Foreigners in hotels
International tourism plays an important role in the global economy. It is hard to imagine, but more than 9% of global GDP is generated by international tourism.
The face of international tourism
Chinese in Russia
Not so long ago, the face of international tourism was most often the Europeans. Having enough money and time to travel, guests from Europe were the most frequent foreigners in hotels. However, time does not stand still, Europe suffered a crisis and now the international tourist is most often a resident of China.
The rapid growth of the economy of the Middle Kingdom led to the fact that gradually the standard of living in the country has increased and people have the opportunity to travel. Now China is the leader in international tourism market volumes. In 2014, according to analysts, more than 115 million Chinese will travel abroad. It is noteworthy that more than half of them will travel the first time.
In addition to the inhabitants of China, Brazilians and residents of India begin to actively travel.
Where in Russia do foreigners come
The Russian Federation is an integral part of world international tourism. Naturally, the largest flow of tourists falls on Moscow and St. Petersburg, as the largest cities in the country with an abundance of historical monuments. It is Moscow and St. Petersburg that are most often represented in world tourism ratings. It is interesting that the capital leads in several ratings as the most expensive city for tourists. Moreover, to visit the attraction or to get to any end of the metropolis is several times cheaper here than, for example, in Europe. It’s very expensive to eat in Moscow.
Thanks to past international competitions, such Russian cities as Sochi and Kazan became famous for foreign tourists.
The slowly growing activity of tourists is also noticeable in relation to previously unknown Russian cities in the international tourism market. First of all, this is due to the right investments in the development of the tourism sector. In many cities of the Golden Ring, there are historical monuments that can compete with the Moscow Kremlin, but there is no tourist infrastructure. If investors do not weaken interest in historical monuments of Russia, the appearance of ever new Russian names in international tourist ratings is quite expected.
