Hotel History

The history of hotels dates back to ancient times. The first hotels were taverns, mentions of which can be found in the manuscripts of Ancient Greece and ancient Rome. Traveling in those distant times was long, the speed of movement is small, and unfamiliar lands are dangerous. Travelers eagerly paid for any roof over their heads, where you can relax on the go. Demand, as you know, creates supply, and on main roads inns began to grow like mushrooms. It does not take several centuries, as the inns are segmented by the level of service. There are those where a person cannot stop without a special document confirming his high status.

Inn
It was not uncommon for wealthy people with extensive possessions to build inns for personal use, where no one else was allowed.

Ordinary taverns and inns often used notoriety as sinful places. Accordingly, the contingent of such institutions was not rich, which was reflected in the income level of the owners and, naturally, at the level of comfort. It turned out a certain vicious circle, more and more aggravating the authority of the inns.

The situation with the notoriety of inns and taverns has not changed dramatically for many centuries. And only a few centuries ago, at the end of the 18th century, something appeared in the USA that was strikingly different from the inn and resembles a modern hotel. In 1794, the City Hotel was opened in New York. After 30 years, a hotel opened in Boston, where there were 70 rooms, corridors, a reception, locks on doors and free soap. Since that time, hotels and hotels are increasingly acquiring features familiar to modern people, developing their traditions, fighting for the quality of service.

In the 19th century, hotels were built like palaces and equipped with the most modern amenities. Nobody even remembers the notoriety of the inns. Despite the large difference remaining in the solvency of different types of guests, the minimum standard of service has already been raised to a height unattainable for medieval taverns.

By the beginning of the XX century, a whole range of specialties in the hotel industry appears. Accordingly, professionals appear in their field. Having appeared as a family business, hotel business is becoming more complicated and spreading around the world.

Today, there are tens of thousands of hotels around the world that are networked, work like clockwork and bring huge income to their owners and the joy of guests.
